On 1 September 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on 3 potential Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Once the proposed substances are adopted to be added to the list of SVHC, and if these SVHC substances are present in an article component placed on the EU/EEA market in a concentration above 0.1%, then the supplier needs to submit an SCIP notification to ECHA. |

On 1 September 2025, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation on 3 potential Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). The proposed substances in the consultation are listed below. The deadline for commenting is 16 October 2025.

On 27 June 2025, the ECHA has also launched a public consultation on the substance 1,1'-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (DBDPE) (CAS No. 84852-53-9).

If SVHC substances are present in an article placed on the EU/EEA market in a concentration above 0.1% (1000 mg/kg), the EU/EEA supplier of that article needs to submit a SCIP notification to ECHA under the EU Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC (WFD).
